Mindful Eating groups and workshops

Mindful Eating groups and workshops are offered on a regular basis by Tory Butterworth, Ph.D. Workshops last a half-day or all day. They provide background on the benefits of mindful eating in terms of health, weight loss, and getting in touch with eating issues. Tory leads participants through the mindful eating process, teaching them skills in savoring their food and developing a sense of what they want to eat, as well as how to stop when they're full.

Mindful eating groups meet weekly for eight to ten weeks. They take up where the workshops leave off, helping participants to explore their resistances to being mindful of what they eat. Guided imagery exercises as well as homework assignments (e.g. bring a favorite food from childhood to our next session) help participants to develop a clearer picture of their overeating patterns as well as the lifestyle patterns that keep those in place.
